FAQ
Queer WEdding etiquette
There will be a lot of people at this event with a range of gender identities. We ask everyone to please be respectful of each other. We have known you all through many years of life, so let's start with how we would like you to refer to us:
Kolmel Love | They/Them
Childhood nickname exception Ace (Dave + kids only)
Alex Albers | They/Them/She/Her
Some folks all me "Albers" some call me "Alex" , any are fine! And Iʻm fine with either they/them or she/her.
Childhood nickname exception for Zanna (Emily & Ann), Ayex (family)
What if I don’t know what pronouns someone uses?
You can do one of four things:
1. Ask!: It’s perfectly acceptable to ask someone what pronouns they use. See the next section for tips and methods!
2. Use “They”: Use singular “they/them/theirs” for this person until you have the opportunity to ask about their pronouns. "Wow, Kolmelʻs outfit is cool. They look amazing!"
3. Use their name until you learn their pronouns.
4. Check the event directory (coming soon)
How do I ask what pronouns to use?
Sometimes people get nervous about asking for pronouns, because they aren’t sure how to ask. The easiest way to lean into asking someone about their pronouns is to share your own:
“Hello, my name is Charlie and I go by ‘he, him, his’ pronouns. What pronouns do you use?”
By opening the conversation with your pronouns, you are increasing the normalcy of sharing of pronouns in public spaces and interactions. You’re creating an opening to ask for their pronouns.
Or “How would you like me to refer to you?" / "What pronoun do you use? / "Can I ask your pronoun?"

We would love to encourage all traveling guests to please mask on airplanes/trains. Anything folks can to minimize risk would be greatly appreciated. Although we are not requiring masks during the events themselves, we ask our guests to use their own discretion.
If you are not feeling well, we will miss you very much, but we ask you to please skip this event.
Some attending guests are immunocompromised. All of our favorite people are here, please do your part in making these events as safe as possible.

Travel
Do I need to rent a car?
No! Philly is a tricky city to drive in with a lot of parking restrictions. If you do decide to rent a car or if you're planning to drive to PHL, please take careful note of street signs. The Philadelphia Parking Authority is not messing around. You can download the ParkMobile App to pay for parking via credit card. Be sure to check cost of parking a car at a hotel/nearby lot. If renting a house, check parking restrictions in the area, there are also pay lots all over Philadelphia.
