ALEX ALBERS is an experienced documentary editor whose work has premiered on PBS, Fox Sports, Netflix, Amazon Prime, as well as film festivals across the country and around the world.  Their passion is character driven documentary filmmaking rooted in social change.

Alex has had the honor to work with many independent filmmakers and production companies on a wide range of projects. Most recently they served as lead editor on Open Eye Pictures' COMPLICATED (2025), a feature documentary that premiered at Slamdance 2025 in the Unstoppable program. In the past they worked with TrimTab Media on two short documentaries WOMEN'S MARCH (2017) and, award winning, ELLAVUT CIMIRTUQ (2024), and with Bray's Run Productions a on 9-part travel series PERFECT SWEAT (2024), which explores bathing culture around the world, as well as it's sister project Saunachannel.com

Farther back they collaborated on a variety of documentary projects including the 10-part Netflix crime series MAKING A MURDERER: Season 1 (2015),  Academy Award Winner, RESTREPO (2010), Emmy-nominated & Seattle International Film Festival Audience Award winner, Q BALL (2019), and the 2019 Oscar shortlisted and Emmy-Winning Netflix film FIRE IN PARADISE (2019). 

In addition to longer form documentary work Alex specializes in short form video content - specifically branded content, client profile pieces, promotional videos, event highlight reels, and music videos.

They are an alumni of Sarah Lawrence College, where in 2008 they received their BA in Liberal Arts with an area of focus in film production.  ​They have lived all over - Chicago, NY, Sydney, San Francisco - but currently they live in Philadelphia with their parter and rescue pup.
